Raleigh for Roads

Raleigh for Roads

By B. Joan Davis

B. Joan DavisThe Raleigh Chamber of Commerce will kick off its Raleigh for Roads campaign on September 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chambers office at 800 S Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27601.

The campaign is to support the many roadway projects up for voter approval on the October 10 Election Day, to ensure that our community continues to enjoy the quality of life we are famous for.

We have a number friends serving on the campaign steering committee, and we know that they will welcome your insights regarding the many proposed sidewalk and street infrastructure improvements.

With the redevelopment of North Hills, the reopening of Fayetteville Street, and the revitalization of Glenwood South, it is an exciting time to see Raleigh’s new street scape take shape.  For example, City leaders have expressed a desire to convert Person and Blount streets downtown from one-way roads to two-way roads, to widen Blue Ridge Road in the area of Duraleigh Road to Crabtree Valley Mall, and make improvements to the Six Forks Road corridor in North Hills and Poole Road in southeast Raleigh from Maybrook Drive to Barwell Road.

Come hear what else is in store as Raleigh prepares for the next wave of growth and development.
