Sheri is a litigator focused on two areas of practice: estate, trust and guardianship litigation and business matters.

ESTATE, TRUST AND GUARDIANSHIP LITIGATION

Sheri has extensive experience involving disputes in estate, trust and guardianship cases.  She represents individuals and families in navigating the difficult issues related to the death of a family member when there are disputes arising from an estate plan or a will contest.  She has also assisted clients with cases involving guardianship or care for parents or children when they are struggling with the effects of diminished capacity or health issues.  While Sheri is sensitive to how difficult and often highly emotional these situations can be, she is a thoughtful and aggressive advocate for her clients.

BUSINESS Law

Sheri utilizes her corporate banking and finance experience in assisting her clients in achieving their goals whether that is with business formation, mergers and acquisitions or by negotiating and drafting a wide range of transactional documents.  She has prepared, reviewed and analyzed contracts, letters of intent, purchase agreements, confidentiality agreements, employment related agreements and lease agreements.  Sheri also represents clients in wide range of business disputes.

PRIOR EXPERIENCE

As a second-career attorney Sheri has a passion for helping clients solve challenging problems and achieve positive outcomes. Prior to practicing law Sheri worked in corporate banking and finance. With experience in Global Risk and Trading Systems, Capital Markets Finance, Risk Management, Strategic Initiatives, Business Real Estate Finance and Wealth Management, Sheri has a uniquely well-rounded background. This included financial analysis and underwriting as well as Mergers and Acquisitions. Her successful career in corporate banking and finance equipped Sheri with the necessary insight and knowledge to advise businesses and financial institutions on their rights, responsibilities, and duties under the law.

REPRESENTATIVE MATTERS

  • Successfully defended clients in attacks on wills.
  • Successfully petitioned to have Trustees removed and have new Trustees appointed.
  • Assisted client in uncovering over $400,000 in funds embezzled by the former Trustee.
  • Successfully assisted clients in having Power of Attorney declared invalid and having title to property quieted.
  • Assisted with sales and acquisitions of businesses.
  • Negotiated and drafted contracts and agreements for clients.
  • Assisted with litigating contract disputes.

EDUCATION AND MEMBERSHIP

Sheri is a native of North Carolina and received her B.A. in 2015 from North Carolina State University, she received her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law. While attending law school, she served as the Circulation Editor and Staff Member of the North Carolina Journal of International Law. She has articles published on several International Law Issues. Additionally, Sheri received several awards for Trial and Moot Court Arbitration Competitions. Sheri was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 2019, and is also admitted to practice in the Eastern, Middle and Western Federal Districts of North Carolina. She is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, Wake County Bar Association, and the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys.
